How Does Standard Heating’s 5 for $25 Drive Support Veterans?
Our 5 for $25 Charity Drive serves two purposes: it enables us to give back to local nonprofit organizations chosen by our customers and employees, and it encourages honest reviews. We urge anyone who currently is or has been a customer to participate. We will submit a $25 donation to your choice of Animal Humane Society, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, The Lift Garage, Guild Incorporated, Northside Achievement Zone, Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) or Neighborhood House just for taking a few minutes to write an online review of your experience with us. Last year alone, we donated $1,500 to Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans through our 5 for $25 Drive.
MACV Visits Standard Heating
We proudly employ many veterans at our company, so MACV is especially close to our hearts. In April, we welcomed MACV’s CFO, Brian Peterson, to our office for a visit and couldn’t pass up the chance to get a photo of him with our own veterans and employees that make the 5 for $25 Drive possible. Who is the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans?
MACV’s mission is to end veteran homelessness in the state of Minnesota. Their program is structured to complement, but not duplicate, existing services to veterans. In addition to their direct efforts in the areas of housing, employment and legal services, they are also committed to helping veterans navigate and access the other various resources available through their partners across the state. Last year, of all the veterans entering their programs, 48% were in homeless situations and 52% faced imminent homelessness. Through their programs, MACV was able to house homeless veterans at an 89% success rate and many homeless and veteran’s organizations recognize MACV’s transitional and permanent housing programs as a model for the nation.
In 2017 they were able to help over 5,000 veterans receive services in the following areas:
- 1,483 received direct housing/employment services
- 1,881 received connections to services through Stand Down Events
- 1,779 received legal assistance
